Partnership with Arup to deliver feasibility study on HVAC optimization and implementation of the AI solution for Chiller Plant Optimization
Brief
HVAC system accounts for more than 40% of buildings’ total energy. Therefore, it is considered that HVAC optimization is crucial for reducing the energy consumption of HVAC while maintaining occupant comfort and smooth operation. To identify potential energy saving opportunities and establish energy saving implementations, Western Digital has engaged Arup and Neuron to undertake an IIOT implementation for this project.

Design Approach and Implementation
Arup and Neuron have reviewed the existing system setup in relation to BMS, HVAC, energy management system to identify the opportunities in adopting advanced analytic, machine learning to predict and optimize the system operation configurations. Next to the feasibility study, Arup and Neuron have delivered a pilot implementation on developing the machine learning forecasting and optimization model for the chiller plant which includes cooling load & energy consumption prediction, abnormal data & pattern detection and chiller plant optimization.
